Quarter 2: Art Class!!!!
Dear Quarter 3 parents: Welcome to the BMS art blog!!!! My name is Mrs. Donovan. This is a spot where I like to try to post fun pics of the art that is being created at BMS by your kiddos! I am hoping to do some fun and wonderful things with your students. Quarter 1 and 2 were a success and now we are rolling along smoothly. My goal is to push them creatively and help them come up with ways to problem solve. We are going to work with paint, markers, pencil, clay, and much more. Our class meets every day for a quarter during the year so we are going to work fast and furiously.
This blog is intended to be a space where you can come from time to time to see what is happening in class. Life gets busy and being creative is a fun way to relax and express yourself. On the home page I will put any new updates about our art class that comes up and celebrate some of the student work. I will send emails home periodically to remind you to check out the blog if I need to relay any important information to you. Check out some of the pics below to see what the students have been working on in the past two weeks.
You can follow me on instagram @donovansartroom or click here to view. That seems like the easiest way to share some of the fun stuff that is going on in the art room. I update that very often.
My email is jdonovan@bourneps.org and that is the best way to reach me.
Extra Help
My after school day will be every Tuesday. If anyone feels behind they can stay with me on that day. If that is not a great day, we can try to make another day that will be easy for all. I can't wait to show everyone what these kids do this year!!!
5th Graders have done some awesome work with positive/negative space and line to create some hearts for display outside of the room. They have also brought home snowboarders in celebration of the start of the winter olympics where they practiced drawing and shading with colored pencil.
6th Graders have worked with watercolor, color theory, patterns, and letterform to create beautiful compositions to allow me to get to know them.
7th Graders have worked with mixed media and observation drawing to create some awesome mannequin art for the front hall. They are super proud and getting lots of complements. The work was inspired by artist Jim Dine.
