Self Portrait Photography: What are some inventive ways to shoot a self portrait? How can you go beyond the selfie? 3 edited images to blog (30 pics contact sheet)
Story Photography: How can a short story be relayed through images? Look at some of the images below to help you get inspired for a short layout of 5 to 6 images (60 pics contact sheet). Unify your story through theme, color, lighting, etc.
Refraction is the bending of light as it passes from one substance to another. Here, the light ray passes from air to glass and back to air. The bending is caused by the differences in density between the two substances.
ProjectionUse of equipment and lighting to cause an image of an object or original to be seen on a screen or projected onto another surface.
Tilt–shift photography is the use of camera movements on small- and medium-format cameras, and sometimes specifically refers to the use of tilt for selective focus, often for simulating a miniature scene.
As the year starts to wrap up, students in Photo 1 and 2 are going to start working with low key and high key photography. Stay tuned to see what they come up with! For now here is a practice image with Jordan.

"Bourne to be Artists" Spring Art Show & Auction was a great
success due to the help of students, parents, local artists, community
members, faculty and staff. Thank you to everyone for coming to support
our talented young artists at BHS and to also support the first annual Senior
Art Scholarship along with the Alzheimer's Foundation. Our scholarship recpient
is Samantha Ledwidge who will be attending SMFA in Boston next fall.
Students in Graphics 2 and 3 have been learning about the trend of low poly art and design. They have created some animals using this design system and they look awesome! Come check them out at the Spring Art Show and Auction on May 19th at the BHS Cafeteria from 6-8pm.
Graphics 1 students are are just finishing up package design and transitioning over to information design. They designed their own candy brand, worked with a template, built a prototype, and created a 3D model in Illustrator. Check out one of the 3D models below designed by Natalia Gordon...
Photo 1 students are working with digital manipulation and working with creating a double exposure. Check out the amazing work above by Hannah Tripp with Rhyan Ullo as her model.

Some of our fabulous photo students will be participating in a contest put on by the General Federation of Women's Clubs. I am sure they will be thrilled to see some of the work by our BHS students.
Congratulations to Alexis Long and Quinn Washington for being chosen to represent BHS at UMass Dartmouth. Their work will be on display at the Fine Arts Building at the university from January 26-Feb 7. A short reception will be held on Feb 7th from 2-4. Check out the work by Alexis below!
Graphic Arts 1 students are just finishing up learning the basics of Illustrator and headed toward the Design Principles. They focused on learning how to make digital illustrations from both drawings and Photographs. Check out this great piece below!
